Important Announcement from P.E. teachers:
The PE team would like to update everyone on the ice skating situation during PE. We have looked at the weather and it is not going to be cold enough for long enough to build a rink this year. Ice skating during PE is canceled for this year. If for some reason this changes we will let you know. We know how much the students enjoy this experience and hopefully next year we will have a colder winter. There are many rinks in the city that are still functioning, it could be a great family outing. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Students continued to learn about 2-D and 3-D shapes, different ways of measuring size and weight. This next week we will begin to focus on number bonds, adding and subtracting numbers 1-10.
Students continue to learn new ‘snap words’ and practice the ones they’ve been learning throughout the year. When we learn new words we: Read the word, Study the word, spell the word, Write the word, and Use the word. Children are also learning new games that help them to remember and learn ‘snap words’. Below you will see students playing ‘Snap Word’ Memory Game.
In Writer’s Workshop, we have continued to write narratives. We are adding more details to drawings, labeling our drawings and adding more words to our writing. Students are now focused on listening to the beginning, middle and ending sounds of the words they are reading and writing.
Children continue to read independently choosing ‘just right’ books for them to read on their own or with a friend.
As a group, we are beginning to do an author study. More details soon.
The girls continue from previous outings in the forest. They ‘bath’ the tree using snow. This activity continued throughout the whole forest time.
“I put snow on the roots. When it melts it will water the roots.”
Girls began digging in the snow and found dirt. The dirt mixing with snow looked like oreos. They decided they would make and call these ‘marshmallow oreos’.
