Dear Third-Grade Families,
As the AAS leadership team has recently communicated, “Distance Learning” packets are being sent home ONLY as preparation for a campus closure. Teachers have tried to predict what would be needed for a “distant” home-learning experience and included these things in the packets – the packets may vary slightly from teacher to teacher. These packets should only be opened and utilized when students are instructed to do so.
Ms. Helen, our Art teacher, has also prepared a packet which is being sent home.
Those students who have Mrs. Jennifer will have tools as well for extra support.
Those students who have Ms. Solice for World Language will have a “Distance Learning ” packet from her.
Families need to do the following to prepare for distance learning:
- Gather some basic school supplies – pencils and sharpeners, erasers, markers, colored pencils, rulers, etc.
- Create a learning space at home where all school supplies, electrical outlets for device charging, and “Distance Learning” packets are centrally located – students should help to organize this learning space.
- Make sure there is a quiet, well-lit place for your child to meet with his/her class online – this may or may not be the designated “learning space.”
Please keep these at home unopened/unused until Distance Learning happens, or until you are asked to send it back to school. All non-consumable materials (e.g. unifix cubes, reading books, etc.) will be expected to be returned to school regardless of the situation.
Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher if you have any questions regarding the “Distance Learning” packets.
