Fall MAP Testing

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing begins next week . . .

In the next two weeks, our Grades 2-5 students will take the MAP assessment, which will provide our teachers with another view into your child as a learner. The children will take the Math, Reading, and Language forms of the assessment. The MAP assessments provide us with external data that compares your child’s performance with a set of recognized standards. Because the assessment is adaptive, we are able to gather information about children outside of the constraints of grade level bands. This is not an assessment that your child can study for. In order to help her or him do their very best, please ensure that your child gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast or, for afternoon tests, encourage them to eat a healthy lunch. You can also help your child by not making a big deal about this testing experience. It is not a high stakes assessment and the children have no reason to feel stressed about their performance. You will receive information about your child’s performance on the MAP assessment after all students have completed the tests.

Grade 3 will have MAP testing on these dates and times:

Tuesday, September 17th at 8:45am

Monday, September 23rd at 12:45pm

Thursday, September 26th at 12:45pm

MAP is not a timed test, students have as much time as they need to finish. Please encourage your child to take his/her time. Early finishers usually achieve scores that do not reflect their true ability.

Also, on Tuesday, September 17th,  it would be helpful for all students to be on time for school so they don’t feel rushed and don’t create a distraction for others walking into the classroom late.

 Thank you for your support.
